GLOBAL TALENT LIST

Long

Alicia grew up doing gymnastics, ballet and dance since the young age of 3, and competed all over New England. She discovered the art of pole dancing in 2004, and since then has dedicated herself to training herself and growing as a pole artist. Using her past gymnastics and dance abilities, Alicia embraced the more artistic side of pole, yet still loves and incorporated the sexy, slinky side of it. She loves to learn and has had the opportunity this year to take a few workshops with some of the great pole dancers of the world, and would like to keep doing so!
The past 2 years, Alicia started to share her abilities as a dancer with women in her area by teaching a small group of beginners interested in pole fitness in her area. Doing so helped her develop a clear, comprehensive, and progressive syllabus that builds one move on top of another in order to build strength. To help her students build grace and fluidity she also incorporates dance transitions and sultry floor and wall work to her routines and choreography also.
Alicia's goals for the upcoming years are to continue to spread the joy of pole dancing to women all over New England by teaching workshops and at the few studios in the area. She would also love to compete in national competitions or dance in showcases because she loves the elation of being on stage expressing herself through dance! Eventually in the years to come, she would like to open her own studio for pole and aerial.
Alicia also continues her own dance study by continuing to take classes in classical ballet, aerial (trapeze, silks, lyra), and aerial yoga/ yoga.
All of Alicia's classes and workshops are based on her belief of proper technique! This means no jumping or kicking into inverts and/or other moves, but using core strength to ease into moves with control. Doing so prevents injury and produces a safe and productive learning environment. Advance tricks start out as baby steps toward them. Pole builds on itself and Alicia's syllabus reflects this to include moves that build upon each other, and strength building and flexibility training also. Safety and injury prevention, along with a pace that allows students to properly learn movements is what leads to confident, strong, and eager to learn pole students!

Alicia has performed/competed in:

~Polesque 2010 in Brookline, NY
~American Pole Fitness Association Pole in the Park 2010 in Union Square NYC
~JMK Entertainment Valentines Day show 2011, Pink Pastie Burlesque 2011, and Halloween Murder Mystery 2011.

International entertainer "The Maine Attraction" grew up in a small town in Georgia and moved to New York City after she discovered performing was all she wanted to do. She landed her first professional dance job when she auditioned for MTV's Fight For Your Rights Campaign. From then on she started working the dance circuit performing in private supper clubs and popular NYC underground clubs.

Her tenacious spirit helped her to persevere and become one of New York's most celebrated Burlesque Performers. Given the opportunity to express her creativity as a dancer, actress and singer, she has performed in MGM Grand's "Studio 54", Buddha Bar in Beirut, Lebanon and The Latin Grammys. Her ability to transform herself into a myriad of characters gives her the opportunity to play roles that are off the beaten path. She has starred in Miente, My Normal, I Was A Tranny Werewolf and Pariah. Her role in Million In The Mirror, a PSA for breast cancer research, recently won the viewers choice award on the Lifetime channel.

Captivating audiences every time she hits the stage through her spectacular performances has become her reputation. From her humble beginnings of working the dance circuit, she attracted the attention of talent agents who soon had her performing alongside an entourage of greats including: legends James Brown and Lionel Richie, pop sensations Jessica Simpson and Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes, and burlesque divas like Dita Von Tease and Gentry de Paris. A muse for numerous visual artists, she has collaborated with conceptual photographer LaToya Ruby Frazier and multimedia extraordinaire, Matthew Barney. She has been requested for exclusive fashion events hosted by fashion icons like Patricia Field and Marc Jacobs and has toured with Grammy nominee DJ Tiesto. Go Magazine honored Maine as one of the women in their annual issue "100 Women Women We Love." She was chosen to be one of the creme de la creme, in OUT Magazine's spread on New York City Nightlife Performers.

Her uninhibited rhythmic style and sense of humor blend an ensemble of samba, belly dance, African, improvisation and contortion, into a movement she has coined, "Burlesque Fusion". Maine is energetic, sensual, and wildly charismatic. She evokes an old kind of glamour that is naughty but cheeky in her burlesque performances many times being compared to the extraordinary Josephine Baker and Lucille Ball. Her tour with Murray Hill and Hendricks Gin garnered the attention of Parisian talent agent who booked her for 9 appearances in Paris. She travels extensively nationally and internationally performing, acting and has begun a recording project that is sure to enhance her stage shows. The Maine Attraction will continue to grace any stage where she can let her creativity ride.

Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters

I have always dreamed of being in the spotlight. From the very beginning, I was flipping around and putting on mini-shows for my friends and family in Northeast Ohio. I was always amazed by music and circus, but as I grew up, music was the only thing around. I started taking musical theater and performed in several shows. Once high school ended, I was planning to go to school in NYC to sing, but I injured my hearing and voice. During the time of searching for my next path, I was reintroduced to circus!

I was so inspired and still longed to be in front of an audience. Eighteen seemed a bit late, but I began practicing contortion and hand-balancing in my own home for hours every day. Before I knew it, my body was doing things I never could have imagined! After two years, I auditioned and was accepted into New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA) where I trained for a year in several circus disciplines. I majored in aerial straps and minored in contortion. I also became quite skilled with the hula hoop.

Once I completed NECCA's Professional Track program, I was accepted into L’Ecole de Cirque Quebec City. Different events took place, and I instead found myself training, teaching, and performing all over NYC. I can now be found in the circus and burlesque scene, even performing song once again during rigorous ground and aerial acts.

Whether it is a scandalous cabaret, birthday party, night club, or street performance, I strive to bring something memorable to my audience, leaving them with a smile, a laugh or tear.
